Rocco
Basile graduated from Brooklyn, New York-based Xaverian High
School, then received a degree in Accounting from New York University
(1990) and attended graduate courses at St. John's University for
Finance. He currently works in his family's business, The Basile
Builders, and is married with two daughters.
An inspiring example of someone who had a rough start in life, Rocco
Basile has paid his dues and earned the respect of many.
For the last decade, Rocco has been spending more and more time with
his favorite charities. In this capacity, Mr. Basile sits on the
Board of Directors of the Children of the City and the Joe DiMaggio
Committee for Xaverian High School in New York City.
Rocco Basile firmly believes that by educating our youth and serving as
a role model for them he can not only live his life as something to be
proud of, but he can give today's youth a better chance at the right
kind of success to strive for.
As he says, "
Ive been down the
wrong road
and I feel my education allowed me to understand the adverse effects it
had on my life and the life of others. My education allowed me to be
sympathic to the needs of others and helped me understand how that can
change a world. "Be the change you want to see in the World" Gandhi
said."
"My education has allowed me to
be able to read hundreds of spiritual books from every culture and
religion. This has inspired me to do my best to be a positive change
and it has given me the
intuition to see how that positive change has worked its way back into
my
life. I want this website to
inspire others to understand the importance of educating our
youth so it will break the cycle of poverty, crime and drugs. Educating
our youth is the
foundation for prosperity"
One of the many ways Rocco Basile
gives back to the community is by
speaking in public about the benefits of education on poverty and
crime. While there are many studies around on this subject, there
are two that Mr. Basile uses extensively as they dramatically detail
the benefits of education on society. The first, from the
Virginia Education Association, discusses how education
is
prized
as an essential right in a democracy, the second is from
Head Start which discusses how
education
reduces crime and improves achievement.
